Some typical questions Tony is asked by people ordering his ‘You beaut’ caricatures-
What size are the
caricatures?
If
Uncle Harry has a big nose will it be exaggerated?
Can
photocopies be made of the caricature?
Your caricature would not make them look silly or stupid?
What sort of photos do
you need?
How long does a caricature take from the time of order?
What if there is a group of people to be caricatured?

about doing caricatures on the spot ‘live’?
Okay, now what about cost?
Q: What size are the
caricatures?
A: Best size is A3 – although just about any size can be done. All on
top quality art board ready to frame. (Although Tony can frame if you
can’t get it done yourself).
Q:
If Uncle Harry has a big nose will it be exaggerated?
A: Only if Uncle Harry is not sensitive about his honk and you would tell
me at the time you order the caricature. Afterall, unless Uncle Harry
is a politician (and therefore always ‘open season’ for us
cartoonists) he will be kindly and deftly drawn so that he will be
delighted with the result. And Uncle Harry will be chuffed to find his
sporting or business fantasies - but nothing naughty though - have
been included..
Q: Can
photocopies be made of the caricature?
A: Yes but they must not to be used for any commercial purposes
without Tony’s permission. Bear in mind though, that, generally
photocopies don’t reproduce the vibrancy of my original artwork.
Q: Your caricature would not make them look silly or stupid?
A: No way! Tony Murphy ‘You beaut’ caricatures are always kind to the
subjects.
Q: What sort of photos do
you need?
A: As long as the subject is close - rather than 20 metres away - and
they should be generally okay. Anyway, we can talk about this at the
time.
Q:
How long does a caricature take from the time of order?
A: Usually seven days but this depends on orders in the pipeline and
if a tight deadline is demanded then Tony will pull out all stops to
meet it.
Q:
What if there is a group of people to be caricatured?
A: No problem - plenty of groups and teams have been caricatured.
Q: What
about doing caricatures on the spot ‘live’?
A: While these can be fun at a party or whatever, a Tony Murphy
caricature takes time – like a portrait – and all the elements of the
subject, the interests and hobbies are also covered. This can’t be
done in 3 minutes or whatever.
Q: Okay, now what about cost?
A: We can negotiate the fee when we discuss the project.
